LARP Workshop – Lee Patrick

If you’ve ever wanted to write a LARP but haven’t been sure how to get started, now’s your chance – this workshop will cover the basics of turning an idea into a plot and a stack of character sheets.

All you need is an idea – as vague or specific as you like – some paper, and a pen. We’ll cover a few different LARP writing processes, and some of the foundations of writing plots, mechanics, and character sheets.

This workshop is primarily aimed at people who are completely new to LARP writing, but more experienced writers are also welcome.

“You’ve heard then? Another settlement wiped out; down to the bloody cattle in the pens… I heard it was those damn injuns; chewed the lips right off the faces of the dead. Army’s all up to wipe them out.

“Nah, don’t believe it. Army has it all wrong. I spoke to some and they’ve been hit too. Them were tough bastards too, takes a lot to scare them, and they all be scared of some-it called the Curse of the Anasazi. Ain’t sure what that is, but mark my words, what’s out there is the Spawn of the Devil. Army is in over their damn heads… …”

A Monster of the Week game set in a fictional version of the Old West. Strap on a six-shooter; grab a tomahawk; and get ready to fight the “Curse of the Anasazi”.

A supernatural noir in the the City of Mist. A new infectious evil is operating in the city, using high school students to spread itself throughout the city. The crew must uncover a dark network and figure out its origin before time runs out.

Travelers from countless worlds who walk the paths between universes often take shelter at the Inn of World’s End while reality storms rage outside.

Reality storms are a common occurrence, and while deadly, travelers have learned their patterns and how to weather them safely. This time, however, the storm continues to rage on and grow in intensity long past when it would normally have abated, and the travelers begin to fear that something is terribly wrong.

Spellbound Kingdoms is a fantasy Renaissance-ish game about love, fear, and inspiration, in conjunction with sweet style-based combat This is a prewritten adventure.”

In this combat focused, everything turned up to 11, probably not balanced version of Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition each player will control one of five pre-made Giant Champions: a Stone Giant Shaman, a Frost Giant Hunter, a Fire Giant Dreadnaught, a Cloud Giant Windspeaker, or the Heir to the Crown of Storms. They will need to put aside their differences to protect the world from those foolish Humans who, once again, have been meddling with powers beyond their control

Wellington 1918. It has been many months since the dread Haitian Flu arrived in New Zealand. Tens of thousands have died, if not from the flu itself then from the deprivations of those who succumbed to the disease only to rise from the grave with an insatiable hunger for human flesh.

You are a member of a clandestine resistance cell in a dystopian future, planning and undertaking missions in order to destabilise the ruling government.

Within the team, you will take on roles that will make deals, lobby politicians, navigate cyberspace and/or enter the criminal underworld. You will also need to work with or against other teams to come out ahead.
